The theme of the sixth International Conference on Family Planning is “Family Planning & Universal Health Coverage.” There will once again be a demographic dividend track during the conference where participants will focus on the returns on investments in family planning.

The 2021 PAA conference had 240 paper sessions spanning across 16 topics. There were also 22 additional sessions that considered some of the most important population issues of our day, including discussions on the 2020 Census and others highlighting recent findings from consensus studies produced by the National Academies of Science, Engineering, and Medicine.

The fifth International Conference on Family Planning focused on the demographic dividend. Its theme, “Investing for a Lifetime of Returns,” spoke to the various returns on investment that family planning provides, from education and empowerment to economic growth and environmental health. Many of the conference sessions highlighted the ways in which countries can harness the benefits of the demographic dividend on the macro and micro levels.
